AC Milan will be without their star forward, Rafael Leao, for their Serie A opening fixture this upcoming weekend. Leao’s absence was due to the calf injury that he picked up during the Rossoneri’s Coppa Italia clash against Bari.
Leao Set to Miss Milan’s Serie A Opener Because of Injury
Unpleasant news struck Milan’s camp ahead of their Serie A opening fixture on Saturday, as they will most likely play without their star player, Rafael Leao. The Portuguese international suffered an injury during the Rossoneri’s 2-0 Coppa Italia victory against Bari last weekend.
Leao scored Milan’s opening goal in that match, but was subbed off after just 17 minutes of play after picking up an injury to his calf. Following the latest check-up, Italian media claim that the striker suffered trauma on his right calf.
Although reports suggest it’s not a serious injury, Milan are taking a cautious approach to their star player’s health. That’s why Leao will most likely miss his team’s opening game against Cremonese at San Siro this upcoming weekend.
His condition will be monitored day by day ahead of their second league game against Lecce, in about two weeks. Massimiliano Allegri will hope that Leao will recover for at least his side’s second league game against the Salentini.
